Gather at Mount Gilead for tours of the house and of the Spindle Sears House with Michael Rierson, Resource Stewardship Branch Manager, Fairfax County Park Authority. Wear comfortable walking shoes for a short walk to the Spindle Sears house (less than 5 minutes). Sully District Supervisor Michael Frey will open the program with remarks on the recent expansion of the Centreville Historic Overlay District.

Mt. Gilead 1860s

Mount Gilead, built in the 18th Century, is one of the oldest houses in Fairfax County and is an excellent example of local Potomac River architecture.

Spindle Sears House

The Spindle house is a Brentwood model Sears kit house built in 1934 by Roger Spindle that has been restored by the Park Authority.


Directions:
The Centreville Historic District is located in the Northeastern corner of the intersection of Rt. 29, Lee Highway and Rt. 28, Sully Road.

From Lee Highway, turn onto Braddock Road heading West: Turn Right onto the first street, Mt. Gilead Road. Follow Mt. Gilead Road round the bend to the driveway into Mount Gilead on the Left. (There is no access from Sully Road.)

Please be "green" and carpool. Parking is limited.
